Dennis Summerfest 2012

Its that time of year again, when the town of Dennis and local merchants pull out all the stops to celebrate our pre Labor Day weekend. Many refer to the Dennis Festival Days as the "Last and Best Weekend of Summer".Its Dennis Summerfest 2012!! We wouldnt want you to miss out on all the events in store for this festive weekend of contests, races, music,antique car shows, bonfires and of course the highlight of the weekend is the amazing Fireworks display, taking place this year at the West Dennis Beach on Saturday.

ARTS & CRAFTS FAIR, 10 AM-4 PM, NEW LOCATION: at Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis. Artists, Crafters, and Food Vendors (Hot Dogs; hamburgers; Ice Cream; Drinks, and more), Children�s Activities, and more. Plenty of parking in lower lot.

54th ANTIQUE CAR MOTORCADE and DISPLAY, Starts at West Dennis Beach at 12 Noon, travels through Dennisport, back Upper County Rd., crossing Rte. 134, to Liberty Hall, then right on Old Main St. to Old Chatham Rd. to Route 134 and into the Nathaniel H. Wixon Middle School in South Dennis where cars will be on display (approx. 1-3PM). (Pre-register cars with Penny Bach, Motorcade Chairman, 508-760-4524, and receive a Beach Pass)

Independence day events on Cape Cod 2012

The Fourth of July, or Independence Day, is a federal holiday that celebrates the adoption of the Declaration of the Independence on July 4th, 1776. Although this fourth of July happens to land mid week on a Wednesday, their is still plenty to do here on Cape Cod.What better way to show your gratitude for all who served our country then participating in some of the following events for this holiday week:

Monday, July 2

Orleans - Rock Harbor 9:00 pm - The annual fireworks display at Rock Harbor in honor of the 4th of July will be begin at dusk. Put on your red, white, and blue, and come celebrate America's birthday in Orleans.

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Falmouth - 8:45pm - The fireworks are scheduled at dusk at Falmouth Heights Beach.Spectators are asked to bring a radio and to set it to 92.7,WMVY, in order to hear the music that accompanies the show.

Hyannis - 8:45pm - Head down to the beaches around Hyannis Harbor for the best views of the fireworks. Pack a picnic dinner and have dinner on the beach or grab a bite to eat at one of the downtown restaurants and walk to the beaches afterwards to catch the fireworks.
*Aselton is one of the prime spots to watch the fireworks display around 9 p.m. There is no rain date.
There will be parking bans from 2 to 6 p.m. on Main Street, Hyannis on the Fourth, and South Street will be closed to traffic. All of Main Street, as well as Old Colony Road and Ocean Street, between South and Main streets, will be closed to traffic beginning at 3 p.m.
From 5 p.m. to midnight, there will be a parking ban south of South Street on Ocean, Old Colony, Gosnold and all streets off Gosnold. Kalmus Beach will be available for handicapped parking only.

Nantucket - 8:30pm - Every July 4th, Jetties Beach on Nantucket is the place to be to view spectacular fireworks. What could be better than watching fireworks on a beach on Nantucket. A great family event!
Provincetown - 8:30pm - Enjoy 4th of July Fireworks in P-town! They begin at dusk and can be seen from any bayside beach.

Parades & Celebrations:

July 4, 2012
Bourne - 10:00 am - Clowns, bands, floats, fire trucks, sirens, horses, costumes, scouts, veterans and lots of flags will be part of the Fourth of July scene once again along main Street in Buzzards Bay. The parade route will be the intersection of Academy Drive and Main Street to the Bourne Veterans Memorial Community Building.
Centerville - 10:00 am - Neighborhood floats, decorated bikes and wagons, clowns, and bands will flood the streets of Centerville in this fun, festive parade. The parade will be followed by food, fun, and field games at the ball field behind the Centerville Recreation Building.

Chatham - 9:00 am - Celebrating Chatham's rich maritime traditions and spirit and its unique position as the first stop of the east wind. A bigger than ever parade down Main St. with more marching bands, more floats, and a special Grand Marshall will begin the day's festivities. Parade Theme is "Chatham Through The Years, a Living History Parade."

Falmouth - 10:00 am - Children and families dress in creative Uncle Sam costumes. Beginning at the Village Green at 10:00 am, they parade down Main Street to Margaret E. Noonan Park where a patriotic sing along will take place.
Orleans - 10:00 am - Marching bands, floats, music, clowns, and much, much more. The parade route goes down Eldredge Park Way, Route 6A, Main Street and Route 28 and back to Eldredge Park.
Provincetown - 11:00 am - Come watch creative floats, marching bands, and enjoy the star spangled excitement of this parade. The parade begins at 11 am at the Harbor Hotel and proceeds along Commercial Street until Franklin Street.

Barnstable - 9:00 am - Don't miss this 4th of July tradition. Big floats, small floats, bikes walkers, motorcycles and dogs are all included in this parade. It begins at the County Complex on Railroad Avenue and proceed down Main Street (Route 6A); left onto Mill Way and continue to the Village Hollow where it will end with various activities.
*Main Street in Hyannis will be filled with marching bands, a kids’ parade of decorated bikes, and more at 4 p.m. The theme for the parade is “America the Beautiful,” and retired Cape Cod Community College president Kathy Schatzberg is the grand marshal. Before the parade, there’ll be a boat parade from Hyannis Yacht Club at 1 p.m. to circle Hyannis inner harbor at 1:30 p.m. Afterward, the Barnstable Town Band will play from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the village green, and the Mike Dumas Band will perform in Aselton Park from 7 p.m. until dusk. WXTK-FM 95.1 will broadcast a coordinated musical soundtrack during the fireworks.
Nantucket - 10:00 am - downtown Nantucket's annual 4th of July celebration. Face painting, sand painting, dunk tank, watermelon/pie eating contests, kid's parade, pet parade and more. The Grande Finale of the day is the famous water fight with the Nantucket Fire Department at noon.

Eastham - 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. On July 4th at the Eastham Schoolhouse Museum there will be an old fashioned celebration with lemonade, cookies, and ice cream from 1-4pm. Come on down to the Eastham and enjoy a great fun filled afternoon this 4th of July with the family!

Cape Cod Quahog Day predicts 84 days of Summer 2012

As of June 20, 2012..it is officially Summer and according to the Cape's beloved hard-shelled mollusk Quahog, Doug, sunny days lie ahead for Cape Cod beachgoers!

At the 4th Annual Quahog Day ceremony in South Yarmouth on June 20, 2012,
