Pilgrim Monument & Provincetown Museum » Annual Lighting

The official Lighting Ceremony will take place on
November 21, 2012 from 5-7pm at the Pilgrim Monument
The Annual Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument, which celebrates the Pilgrims’ First Landing in the New World in Provincetown on November 11, 1620, is one of Cape Cod’s most beautiful traditions and one that is supported by PMPM’s members and friends.

“We are thrilled to salute with deepest thanks and pride the extraordinary citizens who stand ready to rush into danger on our behalf,” said Monument executive director John McDonagh. “This community holds these heroes in the highest regard, and their being on hand to ‘throw the switch’ at the annual lighting is an honor for the Pilgrim Monument.”
The lighting commemorates the original landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims in Provincetown on Nov. 11, 1620, and the “landing lights” will stay illuminated each night until Jan. 6, 2013

For a small donation, you can help support the traditional lighting of the Pilgrim Monument. The official Lighting Ceremony will take place on November 21, 2012 from 5-7pm at the Pilgrim Monument &; Provincetown Museum(PMPM). The lights will illuminate the sky through January 6, 2013. This year’s lighting is dedicated to local rescue personnel;read the press release.

The list of sponsors and their dedications will be displayed in the Provincetown Museum and on our website throughout the 2012/2013 season. We hope those who have donated to the Lighting in the past will continue to do so as members of the organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law

ASPCA Thanksgiving Safety Tips

According to The ASPCA, the Sage in stuffing is delicious for humans. For our pets, however, the essential oils and resins can cause gastrointestinal issues and central nervous system depression.

While our own, Lighthouse Inn housedog Riptide, has always been food-motivated he understands that pets and their humans need to heed the warning “ Do not to overindulge”, a taste of gravy is fine for your pet but sticking to the normal diet for your pet through the holidays is best.
Happy Holidays for all!

Cape Cod Residents Collect Relief Supplies For Sandy Victims « CBS Boston
Andy Buckley and some community members from Cape Cod have been collecting relief supplies for Hurricane Sandy victims in New York.
The expectation was that Hurricane Sandy would batter Cape Cod and coastal Massachusetts. The reality was that New Jersey and New York took the worst damage, and now Cape Codders are looking to help the unfortunate people who have been put out by the storm.
