The official Lighting Ceremony will take place on
November 21, 2012 from 5-7pm at the Pilgrim Monument
The Annual Lighting of the Pilgrim Monument, which celebrates the Pilgrims’ First Landing in the New World in Provincetown on November 11, 1620, is one of Cape Cod’s most beautiful traditions and one that is supported by PMPM’s members and friends.“We are thrilled to salute with deepest thanks and pride the extraordinary citizens who stand ready to rush into danger on our behalf,” said Monument executive director John McDonagh. “This community holds these heroes in the highest regard, and their being on hand to ‘throw the switch’ at the annual lighting is an honor for the Pilgrim Monument.”
The lighting commemorates the original landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims in Provincetown on Nov. 11, 1620, and the “landing lights” will stay illuminated each night until Jan. 6, 2013
