Halloween safety tips

Few tips for those going out trick or treating:
  1. Bring flashlight & Batteries
  2. Have some sort of reflective material on your costume or Candy Bag
  3. An adult should ALWAYS accompany children while trick or treating
  4. Use face makeup, instead of masks, so eyes are not covered making it difficult to see in evening
  5. Visit homes only with porch lights on
  6. Walk on sidewalk, not in street, unless no sidewalk, then walk facing traffic along edge of roadway
  7. Be cautious of strange animals & dogs
  8. Do not cut across yards or dark alleys, etc
  9. do not eat candy while trick or treating-wait till you get home & have an adult inspect treats carefully
  10. Never go inside a house, always stay outside on porch
Staying Home to pass out treats??
A few tips to contribute to every ones safety:
  1. Turn on outside lights
  2. Clean yard & porch area of leaves and potential hazards
  3. Control or tie up animals & pets
  4. consider offering sugar substitutes instead of candy such as:
    • school supplies-pencils, pads, crayons, chalk, pens, erasers
    • stickers,
    • toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss
    • money (suggest this only if in a small neighborhood with not too many kids, lol)
If driving:
  1. Use extra caution
  2. Drive slow
And of course, HAVE FUN while being safe
on this and every Halloween!
